A quick post this morning before heading into Denali National Park. Weather, again, is perfect. Peak fall foliage everywhere, and blue skies abound. A side note – MHS class of ’73 rocks. Thank you Roger, for spreading the word. So good to hear from everyone – Abby, Ann, Dave, Gerri, Jill, Kathy and Sharon. You are all so kind to drop me a line or comment. I hope I can provide a bit of entertainment for you as I meander through the peaks and valleys around here.
Two days ago while traipsing through Yukon Territory. Unbelievable scenery, the likes of which I had never before seen.
Here’s a shot of the Alaska Highway yesterday while heading between Tok and Fairbanks. Again, dream-like.
And finally, into the wild, indeed. Here’s the bus used in the movie – Chris McCandless’ last home away from home in the Alaska wilderness before finding out first hand that nature doesn’t care.
We’re heading into the Park now – can’t wait. Denali’s peak eluded us yesterday, but we expect to see her revealed fully today.
Rich,
You sure you are actually on the road? Looks more like you are just downloading these fantastic pictures from a National Geographic website. Why you spent so many years in an office when you could take such incredible photographs is beyond me. You and Marvin sharing a great trip. Love the updates, and keep the pictures coming
J
You’re too kind, John. The scenery makes it easy. In anchorage now after covering a lot of ground. Time to chill and reload.
rich- great photo’s. bringing me back to what was one of my best journey’s ever. spectacular scenery wish i was there. but being pampered at the greenbrier right now. keep the photo’s coming. maybe see you in utah. al
Thanks, Al. Enjoy the pampering. I’ll be thinking of that concept in the van.
Wow, breathtaking photos!! How is the Burning Girl doing?
Thanks, Gabi. Other than a balky shifter, she’s been great on the road. As a home away from home, she’s been extraordinary in every way.
Hi Rich
Let me know if you’re in the Lake Tahoe Area at all – Rick and his wife live there full time now. Enjoying following you on your excursion.
Kathy (Andriano) Coughlin
Hey Kathy. Great to hear from you. Peter Bartley told me a while back that Rick had retired to Lake Tahoe, but it completely slipped my mind on the trip. I do expect to cross through there at some point, and it would be great to see Rick and his family.
P.S. the photos are so gorgeous they almost look fake…
You’re too kind. The scenery makes it easy, but it has really been fun photographing and blogging the trip.
